Rescue Task Force Volunteer Application

Dear Prospective Team Member,

Thank you for considering serving on a RESCUE TASK FORCE mission. We know that participation in a volunteer mission like ours is a major undertaking: physically, emotionally and financially.

We are available to answer whatever questions you might have, but please understand that our work is very flexible. When on foreign soil our teams work at the direction of local leaders, missionaries, village elders, native tribal councils, elected officials, and the like. Direction from them is subordinate only to what the Lord directs. We will often go ‘into the field’ with a general plan – the specifics then dictated by circumstances, current evolving needs, and our team’s composition.

Upon receipt of your application and receipt of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) (USD) application fee you will receive a briefing book with detailed information regarding how and what to pack, pertinent medical information, and background information regarding the area(s) and people that we serve. Your twenty-five dollar application fee will be applied to your mission expense.

A typical mission will cost about $1,800. This covers airfare from major U.S. cites to our rendezvous point, air travel to the country of destination, all local travel, lodging, meals and money for a specific team project that will be decided by the team once on-site. (All mission expenses are tax deductible.)

Team applicants will be notified as much as possible in advance of mission dates. Scheduled trips are usually programmed 2-3 months in advance. In event of a disaster we typically respond within 72 hours. (Our policy is to assemble emergency 9-1-1 response teams from those who have served with us on a scheduled mission.)

Once you have identified a specific mission in which you would like to participate, we will discuss that proposed mission in detail and be able to give you a close approximation of the cost and objective(s). Trips are scheduled for fourteen day – point to foreign to point of origin. Teams typically consist of 8 – 10 volunteers with participation priority given to RTF donors and supporters.

Volunteers carry their own backpacks and we travel self-contained (carry in our own food and supplies.) You will be limited to one piece (preferably an internal frame backpack) as checked baggage, RESCUE TASK FORCE will provide your second piece of luggage – typically medical supplies and equipment specific to the given mission. You will also carry a daypack that will be with you at ALL times. (Details will come in your briefing book.)

God bless you and guide you as you consider this very important step. If you have never before been an answer to someone’s prayers – this is that opportunity.

We look forward to serving with you.
